MAKING MUSIC WITH VEGETABLES
rchestras have changed in composition a lot over the centuries. But this one is very unique.
The orchestra members play vegetables as instruments. This creates some problems, as they need new instruments for every performance. But the sounds they make are amazing.

Podoh V'Sholom
Podo V'sholom is the traditional melody sung by the Lubavitcher Chassidim each year at their farbrengen (get-together) on the 19th of Kislev. This day marks the anniversary of the liberation, in 5559 (1798), of the Alter Rebbe, founder of the Chabad movement, from his imprisonment in Petersburg, Russia, after being denounced by his opponents for his activities on behalf of Chassidism

Williamsburg Shomrim catch thief after a brief pursuit in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
The thief alledgedly went into a store and snatched a cell phone from a pocket book that was on the counter. The thief left the store and the store owner realzied there were missing items from the pocket book. Shomrim was called with a description of the thief and Shomrim held the suspect until the NYPD arrived. NYPD made a quick response and arrested the suspect at the scene.
Great work by the Shomrim units and great work by the hard working men and woamn of the New York police Department.

(11/08/10) BROOKLYN - A new Williamsburg hotel catering to the Orthodox Jewish community has opened in Brooklyn.
The Condor Hotel, located on Franklin Avenue, is offering a Shabbat elevator that automatically stops at every floor on Friday nights and Saturdays, special bowls for hand washing, a wig stand for women and no televisions.
Owner Zalman Glauber says he hopes to appeal to observant Jews, but also wants to build a reputation for being an alternative and affordable option for New Yorkers needing a place to stay.
The hotel also has a catering hall for wedding receptions and Bar Mitzvahs.

A VERY SPECIAL ADOPTION
Adopting a child isn't something to be done lightly. And it's even harder decision when the child is completely blind. This family, however, is uniquely suited to take care of him. The father is blind as well. It's a heartwarming story.

Yeshiva Lubavitch Presents, a Pearl Production, produced by Yaron Levy. The concert features Avraham fried, Yeedle Werdyger, accompanied by the Freilach Orchestra of New York. In another breathtaking concert highlighting Avraham Fried's 30th year of Jewish Music. The concert will be held at the legendary world class Bradesco Theater, located in the heart of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The concert will take place on November 29th, 2010. at 8:00 PM.

Israeli Child Advocate Shocked By Engagement of Young Chareidi Boy
Jerusalem - Israeli news agency Maariv is reporting that the family of deceased Rabbi Moshe Hirsch, Neturei Karta leader and Minister of Jewish Affairs for the Palestinian Authority, celebrated the engagement of a granddaughter this past Motzei Shabbos. The granddaughter, age 17 ½, is engaged to a yeshiva student, age 15 ½.
One of the kallah’s uncles told Maariv that the wedding will not take place for a year and that the couple plan to live in Meah Shearim. While the European Council set the minimum age for marriage at 18 in 2005, the legal age for marriage in Israel is 17, and in some cases the Department of Family Affairs will approve the marriage of a 16 year old.
Dr. Yitzchak Kadman, chairman of the Council for the Welfare of the Child, expressed dismay upon hearing about the engagement of the very young couple. In an interview with Maariv Kadman stated, “It is obvious from seeing the history and culture of Israel that we are not living in a third world country, but in this case, Israel seems to be lagging behind many other countries. The age of 17, the minimum age that was set for marriage, was not determined by accident. Young adults who are under 17 do not have the maturity that is integral to making a marriage work and a marriage such as this is destined for failure. It should also be noted that even in Pirkei Avos, chazal set the age for marriage at 18, not 15 ½.” ( vin news)

9 Kislev marks the birthday and Yahrtzeid of R' Dov Ber the 'Mittler Rebbe', son of the Baal Hatanya.
